  51.     This directory contains the ELSA Windows Utilities 
  52.     installed with the SETUP program from the ELSA WINNER disk 
  53.     "Drivers for Windows 3.1" or with the SETUP program in the 
  54.     \ELSAWARE\WINTOOLS directory of the ELSA CD.
  55.     
  56.     This file contains new information which may not be printed in
  57.     the manual. If any information is contrary to the manual, the
  58.     contents of this file is to be applied.

  125. 3.1     Installation under Windows 3.1x

  129.     Please use the installation program SETUP from the ELSA 
  130.     WINNER disk "Drivers for Windows". Start Windows, select in the
  131.     "Program-Manager" "File"/"Run...", enter the commandline 
  132.     "a:setup" and confirm with "OK". SETUP asks for your language 
  133.     and may install the actual Windows drivers before a choice of 
  134.     the ELSA Windows Utilities is shown (see 3.3 Choice of ELSA
  135.     Windows Utilities).

  183. 4.      Description of the Windows tools

  190. 4.1     DCIset
  191.  
  192.     This program offers for graphics boards with DCI-support the
  193.     info about the actual DCI state and you have also the possibili-
  194.     ty to change this state between primary- and offscreen-support. 
  195.     If you activate the offscreen-support you can use x- and y- 
  196.     filters, too.
  197.  
  198.     With the Windows driver version 4.15 the funtion "Dithering"
  199.     is also supported.

  202. 4.2     DESKman
  203.  
  204.     Using virtual desktop, DESKman offers the possibility to posit
  205.     messages in the middle of the actual cutting. For more informa-
  206.     tion see help <F1>.

  208.     In the system menu you can change the language (german/english).

  211. 4.3     ERGONOmeter
  212.  
  213.     The programm finds out the actual refresh and horizontal scan
  214.     rate. Ergonomic values appear in the green section.

  223. 4.4     GAMMAman
  224.  
  225.     ATTENTION:
  226.     This program supports only the boards of the WINNER 2000
  227.     graphics series and the GLoria!!!
  228.  
  229.     With the ELSA GAMMAman you can modify brightness, contrast, 
  230.     linearity, and threshold value. Some filters (e.g. posterize,
  231.     sinus) are offered. The gamma curve can be loaded, saved, 
  232.     smoothed, inverted, or set to standard value. For more
  233.     information click <F1> for help.
  234.  
  235.     In the system menu you can change the language (german/english).

  237.     NOTE:

  242. 4.5     GLASSman
  243.  
  244.     The program GLASSman offers you a magnifying glass under 
  245.     Windows. You have several possibilities to activate the zooming 
  246.     of GLASSman. Starting the program will activate the zooming and 
  247.     the area pointed to by the mouse cursor will be enlarged.
  248.  
  249.     If GLASSman is already running you have three possibilities
  250.     to activate the zooming again:
  251.     1. Restart GLASSman. The programrecognizes that it has been 
  252.        started before and activates the running version.
  253.     2. Activate the running program with the ENTER key.
  254.     3. Use the hotkey you have defined in the option box.
  255.  
  256.     In the option box you can configure your favorite settings.
  257.     You can choose between different displays (border, 
  258.     magnificient) and zooming factors.
  259.     Additionally you can define the hotkey to activate the zooming.
  260.  
  261.     In the system menu you can change the language (german/english).

  266. 4.6     POWERman
  267.  
  268.     By using the icon "POWERman" the special ELSA screen saver is 
  269.     installed into the "Control Panel", "Desktop" and the installa-
  270.     tion menu is opened. You can modify the times for stand-by-, 
  271.     suspend- and off-mode. Also locking the system by password pro-
  272.     tection is possible. For more information click <F1> for help.

  277. 4.7     RUNman
  278.  
  279.     After the installation of RUNman the place for the installation
  280.     file with your settings can be set:
  281.  
  282.     - at local installation under WINDOWS\ELSAUTIL
  283.     - in the network Windows directory
  284.     - nowhere, for testing program
  285.  
  286.     In the system menu "File..." you can add programs to the RUNman 
  287.     buttons (see help "Keyboard and mouse commands"), open programs,
  288.     watch the program item properties or delete icons from RUNman.
  289.     With the item "Language..." you can choose between "Deutsch" 
  290.     (german) and "U.K. English".
  291.  
  292.     NOTE:   
  293.     Click with the right mouse button on the title bar to get into 
  294.     the system menu under Windows 95.
  295.  
  296.     From the Microsoft File Manager and the HP Dashboard the icons
  297.     can be dragged into RUNman with the mouse (drag & drop).

  299.     In the menu "Options..." many manipulations of RUNman are
  300.     possible. Use the <F2> key to open the menu in the RUNman
  301.     window.
  302.  
  303.     Keyboard commands:

  316.     The mouse commands are described in the help system "Keyboard 
  317.     and Mouse Commands". For detailed information press <F1> for
  318.     help.

  320.     To use RUNman everytime in Windows move the RUNman icon in the
  321.     group window "Startup" by pressing the Ctrl-key and move the 
  322.     icon with the mouse. The settings to RUNman are saved in a 
  323.     special installation file.

  326. 4.8     SCREENman
  327.  
  328.     The SCREENman supports the ELSA monitors GDM-17E40, GDM-17E40T,
  329.     GDM-20E40T, GDM-20H110, CM-21E110T and CM-21E112 and modifies 
  330.     the following parameters:
  331.  
  332.     - Display size
  333.     - Display position
  334.     - Convergence
  335.     - Geometry
  336.     - Brightness
  337.     - Contrast
  338.     - Color temperature
  339.  
  340.     Connect the monitor to a serial interface of your computer. The
  341.     program searches automatically for the connection. Otherwise 
  342.     click the button "Search".
  343.

  353. 4.9     Terminator
  354.  
  355.     The ELSA Terminator offers the following possibilities:
  356.  
  357.     - abort Windows 
  358.     - restart Windows 
  359.     - reboot system
  360.  
  361.     The Terminator supports some command line options:
  362.  
  363.     RESTART     Set the program to "restart Windows".
  364.     REBOOT      Set the program to "reboot system".
  365.     NOCONFIRM   Suppresses the message "OK"/"Cancel", the action 
  366.             follows directly.
  367.     NOSELECT    Suppresses the choice between the different actions.
  368.             This has no influence to the security message.
  369.  
  370.     EXAMPLE:
  371.  
  372.     Create new symbol in the File Manager with "File, New" and the
  373.     command line
  374.  
  375.        C:\WINDOWS\ELSAUTIL\TERMINAT.EXE RESTART NOCONFIRM NOSELECT
  376.  
  377.     Using this new symbol Windows will be closed and restarted
  378.     without any choice of termination and confirm message.

  383. 5.      Known Problems
  384.  
  385. 5.1     RUNman
  386.  
  387.     With Central Point PC Tools for Windows the standard hotkey
  388.     <Ctrl-Shift-Ins> to add symbols to RUNman does not work.
  389.  
  390.     There is the same problem with the HP Dashboard. Use drag & drop
  391.     to add symbols to RUNman (drag the symbol with the mouse and
  392.     drop it into the RUNman window).
  393.  
  394.  
  395. 5.2     SCREENman
  396.     
  397.     Using Windows for Workgroups 3.11 there may appear some 
  398.     problems with the multi I/O chip FDC37C665 from SMC. After
  399.     choosing an interface the system may halt. This error can be
  400.     avoided by changing the file COMM.DRV with the COMM.DRV from
  401.     Windows 3.1.
  402.  
  403.     The variable color temperature of the GDM-20H110 can be modified 
  404.     only with the front panel of the monitor. With "Cancel" the
  405.     value for the color temperature cannot be written back, the
  406.     choice in SCREENman is valid.
